FAQs
Registration
SVSA registration cycle covers fall and spring soccer seasons. Registration will occur yearly in July. Since our academy members play in both the fall and spring seasons, having one registration cycle simplifies payments for our families and enables SVSA to consolidate fees and efficiently plan for the year. Players are required to register with SVSA/PASC before the first practice of the fall season.
Non Refundable Deposit
The non-refundable deposit is requested to secure a spot in the academy. The deposit is applied towards your registration fees and will show as a credit on your invoice when you register and select a payment option. You will receive the full deposit credit regardless of whether you participate in fall season only or both fall and spring soccer seasons.
Refund Policy
Our refund policy is very strict as a player’s acceptance has the effect of denying another player an opportunity to play on a SVSA team. Additionally, SVSA incurs costs each time a player registers to play soccer (administrative, staff, insurance, etc.).

Uniforms:
How do I request a jersey number?
After you register, the admin Staff will assign a jersey number to your player. We generally do not duplicate jersey numbers within an age group.
How do I order an uniform?
After you register, the admin Staff will send you information for ordering a uniform from ProSoccer. The jersey number and the required uniform items will be indicated in the account. Each family is responsible for ordering and paying for uniforms for their own player. Practice jerseys are required for all training sessions. At any time, families can purchase additional items and fan gear through ProSoccer.
How often do uniform styles change?
Our uniforms generally change every two years. Our new uniform cycle started in Fall 2021.
What are home and away jersey colors?
Generally, SVSA teams will wear their White jerseys and blue socks at home games and Blue jerseys and white socks at away games. Always bring both sets to all games. The home team is obligated to change if there is a conflict. (MLS Next & GA rules are opposite, home team wears white, away team wears dark). Some tournaments are reverse (home team wears blue, away team wears white), so managers should always check the tournament rules.
How can I buy spirit wear?
Please visit ProSoccer for SVSA spirit wear
Do I get a discount at ProSoccer?
Yes. Mention you are with PASC/SVSA and you will receive a discount in the store.
Practices
When Practice dates/location/times are announced?
We won’t know the exact days & times of practices until closer to the start of the fall or spring season, unfortunately. Many things need to be taken into consideration when scheduling all of our teams’ practices, including the fields we have available to us (which many are managed and assigned to us by the city and school districts). After receiving our field allocations from the city, only then can we schedule SVSA practices
How many practices per week are there?
3 x per week for GA & 4 x per week for MLS Next. Additional technical sessions as well as our head of performance sessions will be offered for players during the week.
Will practices be on the same days of the week season to season?
We try hard to keep the teams on the same days, but sometimes teams will need to shift days. We try to avoid that, but it just depends on what fields we are assigned, which fields have lights for the later sessions, where the coaches need to be with which teams.
When do practices start and end?
July – /mid December – January – end of June
Training during the winter?
MLS Next will train throughout the winter months & Girls Academy teams in high school ages will have the option to take a break during high soccer season
Games:
When and where are the games?
The games are generally on the weekends, at home and away fields. They can be scheduled for anytime on Saturday and Sunday.
When will I know the game schedule?
Schedule will be populated on byga
Will my team play in tournaments?
SVSA admin will notify players and families in case of any event outside what’s provided by the league
How are MLSNext and GA games schedule?
The managers do not schedule those games. All the age groups with MLSNext/GA teams play on that day at a given location. The dates of those events are set well in advance, even for the entire year (both seasons), but the times of those games (which team plays during which time slot) can move around, even up until the last few days before the play day. Byga automatically obtains the game schedule from GotSoccer.
Is SVSA player able to guest with PASC teams?
There may be an occasion when a SVSA player is asked to guest with a PASC team. The coaches of both teams plus Academy Director must agree to the guesting opportunity. The player pass (for the appropriate league) must be presented at the game.
Teams:
Team Names?
Following US Soccer regulations, teams are divided by birth year (and not school grade). For example, a child born in 2008 is on an “08G” or “08B” team. The G or B represents the girls or boys team.
Is there player movement between svsa teams and PASC?
There can be player movement between teams up at any time.
Player Pass?
Each player must have a player pass with his/her photo and information. The svsa admin Staff will generate the player pass for each registered player
Do existing players need to tryout each year?
Yes.
Are potential new players rejected at tryouts?
We wish we were in a position to invite each child to join SVSA; however, due to the number of roster spots on each team, the number of players who attended tryouts, coupled with a very high level of play, we are unable to offer a spot to all players. We may refer a player to continue to develop at another MLS Next or GA club and to tryout again with us in the future.
Team Roles:
What’s the role of the team coach?
SVSA teams are coached by licensed professional soccer coaches. SVSA success is directly attributable to its amazing coaches.
The coach directs the team’s practice sessions and coaches at games. The coach makes decisions regarding team rosters, playing time, and etc. The team coach communicates feedback about the player to the family.
What’s the role of the parents on the team?
All parents are expected to help out during the season. This includes coordinating social events and game-day help such as setting up and taking down goals for the home games. Parents can also help with carrying and setting up the team bench and team canopy, bringing water, etc. Our team managers are volunteers, so please offer to help your team as much as possible on game day and whenever there are other needs of the team.
